Ride a Lap for Mind
On 17-18 June, we’re riding around Llangorse Lake for 24 hours to raise money for Brecon and District Mind.
No race. No pressure. No ego.
Just people coming together to do something positive.
The 18th June marks one year since my mate Gareth “Cheeky” Evans passed away.
This one’s for him.
And it’s for the incredible work Mind do supporting people locally who are struggling with mental health.

🔁 Ride a lap
Book an hourly slot if you want to ride one lap, a few laps or join part of the challenge.
We’ll be setting off from Llangors Village Hall on the hour, every hour, riding the 9.8-mile loop around Llangorse Lake.
You don’t need to be fast. You don’t need to ride the whole thing. Just pick a slot and come along.
🚴 Take on the 24-hour challenge
This one is for anyone planning to ride the whole Cheeky Lake Loop, or as much of the 24 hours as they can.
We’ll be riding hourly laps from 6pm Wednesday 17 June to 6pm Thursday 18 June, with a few optional double-lap blocks to help push the total over 300 miles.
You don’t have to do every lap and you don’t have to do the double laps. Rest if you need to. Stop if you need to.
Safety first, stupidity second.
🙌 Volunteer
Not riding? Still want to help?
Book a 3-hour volunteer slot and help keep the event moving.
Jobs might include helping at the hall, making drinks, sorting food, filling bottles, signing riders in and out, tidying, supporting the broom wagon or generally being useful.
Basically, if you can make a cup of tea, point someone in the right direction or stop me forgetting to eat, you’re qualified.

Key timings
Start: 6:00pm, Wednesday 17 June
Family/community lap: 4:00pm, Thursday 18 June
Free kids disco: from 5:00pm, Thursday 18 June
Final roll-round lap: 5:00pm, Thursday 18 June
Finish: 6:00pm, Thursday 18 June
From 4pm Thursday, come down to Llangors Village Hall for the family lap, kids disco, raffle, food, bar and live music.
Safety note
The ride takes place on open public roads.
There are no road closures and this is not a race.
All riders are responsible for riding safely, following the Highway Code and riding within their ability.
Helmets are required. Lights are required for any laps in the dark.
Children joining the family/community lap must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
We believe in simple ideas, strong relationships, and lasting impact. What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.

The event starts at 6:00pm on Wednesday 17 June and finishes at 6:00pm on Thursday 18 June.
We’ll be riding hourly laps, with a few double-lap blocks to help push the total over 300 miles.
You don’t have to do the double laps.
They’re there for anyone who wants to help add to the total distance, but there’s no pressure to do them.
You also don’t have to be a hero. If you need to rest, miss a lap or stop, you can.

This is ideal if you want to come along, ride with us, support the fundraiser and be part of the day without committing to the full 24 hours.
